Our blog today begins with the words of a hymn which is quite well known here in Northern Ireland.... Life at best is very brief. We have again been reminded of this over recent days. A lady who previously worked in our office in Nairobi has lost her little baby girl of just over 4 months old. It was sudden. No illness. No warning. Now we have parents left devastated and with empty arms. Life at best is very brief. Joyce; Feed my Lambs worker in Africa; teaches in a School in Kenya. A 9 year old student from the School died last month when he tried to swim across a river with some older boys. He thought he was having some fun. He didn't see the dangers. Gone, in an instant. Life at best is very brief. We are reminded of the urgency of sharing the Gospel...even with the young. Time goes so quickly. As a young girl of 14, I (Pamela) lost my mother. She was 47 when she died. I knew it wasn't old, but it seemed a long way off. My two brothers are now older than she was when she died. 47 doesn't seem so very far away anymore. Life at best is very brief. My father; well he lived until he was 73... but two weeks....just two weeks from when he was diagnosed with cancer until he passed into the presence of his Lord. 73 years...they went by in a flash. Life at best is very brief. If you are saved...live for the Lord and endeavour to share the Good News of the Gospel as God allows you. But perhaps you have not trusted Him yet....Life at best is very brief....don't leave it until it is too late to put your faith in the Saviour. Eternity will not be brief, it will last forever....make sure you spend it in the right place because there will be no turning back. 1 Life at best is very brief,
Like the falling of a leaf, Like the binding of a sheaf, Be in time! Fleeting days are telling fast That the die will soon be cast, And the fatal line be passed, Be in time! Be in time! Be in time! While the voice of Jesus calls you, Be in time! If in sin you longer wait, You may find no open gate, And your cry be just too late: Be in time! 2 Fairest flowers soon decay, Youth and beauty pass away; O you have not long to stay, Be in time! While God’s Spirit bids you come, Sinner, do not longer roam, Lest you seal your hopeless doom, Be in time! 3 Time is gliding swiftly by, Death and judgment draweth nigh, To the arms of Jesus fly, Be in time! O I pray you count the cost! Ere the fatal line be crossed, And your soul in hell be lost, Be in time! 4 Sinner, heed the warning voice, Make the Lord your final choice, Then all heaven will rejoice, Be in time! Come from darkness into light; Come, let Jesus make you right; Come, receive His life tonight, Be in time!
