ONLINE LEARNING - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (faq)
HOW DOES IT WORK?
1 You register for the course of your choice by using the form on our website
2 Places on each course are limited so you will be notified if you have been successful or placed on a waiting list
3 When you are given a place you are ready to begin. A start date will be given to you. You will be allocated your own private student page on our website. You will be given a student number and told how you can view your page.
4 The Introduction and/or Lesson 1 will be published on your student page soon after you have secured a place on the course. You will be able to view the assignment and download from your student page. Each lesson will include some background information to help you and your assignment.
5 The assignment may require you to answer questions, write an essay type answer or ask your views on various scenarios.
6 The information you receive will usually be enough for you to complete the assignment, however further study of your own is recommended to ensure you get the best from the course.
7 You can work at a pace suitable to yourself; however the full course of 10 assignments must be completed within 2 years from when you are sent your first assignment. Simply upload your assignment to your student page when you have it completed. Your answers will be marked and returned to your student page. You will not be notified. It will be your responsibility to keep checking your page. Future assignments will also be added. We will endeavour to mark and return your assignments within one week, however, if there is going to be a delay we will advise you of this. On occasions we may publish the next assignment within this timescale and then publish the marked assignment soon afterwards. If some months pass without any assignments being received you may be contacted and advised that we will need to receive something within a specific timescale otherwise you will be removed from the course. It is not acceptable to take up a place on the course which someone else may benefit from and then not be active.
8 You can send your answers in whatever format is easiest for you; complete on screen in the word document or handwrite your answers and scan before uploading. Please note: if scanning handwritten answers, please ensure your writing is neat, easy to read and has scanned clearly. We do recommend typing on the actual assignment and this method may help to speed up the marking process.
9 If your assignment is not clear and easily read or understood, your tutor may return it to you.
10 Your assignment will be marked and returned to your student page for viewing, usually alongside the next assignment.
WHAT WILL I RECEIVE UPON COMPLETION?
A certificate will be published to your page upon completion stating your overall average grade. You will be responsible for printing this.
ARE THERE AGE RESTRICTIONS?
Unless otherwise stated, each student who registers must be at least 18 years old. There is no upper age limit.
WHICH LANGUAGE WILL BE USED?
Courses are currently only offered in English and you must be able to read and write fairly well in English to complete the course.
DO I NEED A QUALIFICATION TO JOIN?
No. All you need is the interest and willingness to learn and the commitment to complete the course. You also need to be sure that you can have access to the internet to receive and submit your assignments.
AM I GUARANTEED A PLACE ON A COURSE ONCE I REGISTER?
No. Places on courses are limited. This may vary from course to course. Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis to those who provide all information required. Those unsuccessful will be placed on a waiting list and notified accordingly.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I THINK MY ASSIGNMENT WILL NOT BE SUBMITTED ON TIME?
Some courses are to be completed as you are able and as such there is no due date. However, in the case that there is a due date....always contact your tutor as early as possible if you think you will be submitting late. If there is a genuine reason why your assignment is late, the tutor will do their best to accommodate you and give you extra time. If, however, this is an ongoing problem, the tutor may decide to terminate your studies.
WHAT SUPPORT WILL I HAVE?
You will be given an email address for your tutor. You can contact him/her as often as you need to. Do not be afraid to ask questions or ask for something to be explained again if you are unsure or do not understand.
If you have access to “Facebook”, you will be able to join a group made up specifically of other students studying the same course. You will all be at the same level. You can post comments or questions here relating to the course and these can be responded to by other students or the tutor. Please note: This group should be used to discuss the course only and no general conversation is allowed. Anyone not following the rules will be excluded from the group and may loose their place on the course. Once you have completed the course you will automatically be removed from the group. Should enough students which to avail of the facebook facility, arrangements may be made whereby there can be an online instant chat with the tutor and other students at a set class time each week.
A forum may also be available (subject to demand) on the Feed My Lambs website for posting comments and asking questions regarding the course you are studying.
HOW MUCH DOES THE COURSE COST?
Feed My Lambs does not charge a fee for the course, neither do we refund any expenses. Costs such as internet usage and printing of notes are at your own expense.
Upon completion a certificate will be awarded to you. This will be in a format for you to print at your own expense. Should you require us to print it for you there will be a charge for printing and postage if applicable.
